Stop smoking or vaping

You already know the reasons to stop. If you’re ready to finally put them into action, hypnotherapy gives you a focused, supportive way to go about it.

I’m Peter Hallford, a clinical hypnotherapist. I see people one to one, either in my garden therapy room in Heanor, a short drive from Derby, Ilkeston, Ripley and Belper, or online by video call from your own home.

Sessions are £59 for an hour. Your first chat is free, and there’s no obligation to book.

Sound familiar?

  • Reaching for one without even thinking
  • A cigarette or vape with every cup of tea
  • Stopping before, then starting again
  • Feeling it’s the only way to take a break
  • Worrying about your health or the cost
  • Swapping cigarettes for a vape you can’t put down

Smoking and vaping are tied up with habits, routines and feelings as much as anything else. That’s where we focus.

How the sessions work

We start with your reasons for stopping and the situations where you usually reach for one: the morning coffee, the car, the stressful moments, the end of the day.

In a relaxed, focused state we work on those habits and triggers and strengthen your own motivation to stop. You stay aware and in control throughout.

You’ll go home with simple techniques to use when a craving shows up. You’re welcome to use NHS stop-smoking support alongside your sessions too.

What happens when you get in touch

  1. A free chat

A phone call where you tell me what’s been going on and what you’d like to change, ask anything you like, and we plan your session. No obligation.

  2. Settling in

Each session lasts an hour, in Heanor or online, and costs £59. The first ten minutes are simply for getting comfortable and settled.

  3. The hypnotherapy

Then around forty minutes of hypnotherapy. I guide you into a calm, focused state, and you stay aware and in control the whole time.

  4. Coming back

The last ten minutes are for coming fully back out of the session and a little chat about how it went for you. We decide together whether another session would help.

Hello, I’m Peter

I’m a clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner based in Heanor. The 1964 in the name is the year I was born.

My approach is warm, straightforward and centred on you. We get to the heart of what you want to change and work on it together.

Hypnotherapy isn’t something I do to you. It’s something we do together.

Questions people often ask

Do I need to have stopped already?

No. Come as you are. It helps to have decided that you want to stop, and we’ll talk about when your stop date will be.

Can you help with vaping too?

Yes. Vaping habits are just as much about routine and triggers, and we work on them in the same way.

Can I use patches or NHS support as well?

Yes. Hypnotherapy works alongside NHS stop-smoking services and your GP’s advice. Please don’t stop any prescribed medication without talking to your doctor.

Will I lose control or be made to do anything?

No. Hypnotherapy is a relaxed, focused state, a bit like being absorbed in a good book. You are awake, aware and in control the whole time, and you can open your eyes and come back to the room whenever you like. It is nothing like stage hypnosis.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are £59 for an hour: ten minutes to settle in, around forty minutes of hypnotherapy, and ten minutes at the end to come fully back and chat about how it went. Your first chat by phone is free.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. If you’d rather stay at home, we can work together by video call. All you need is a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed, a comfortable chair and headphones.

Where are sessions held?

Either in my garden therapy room in Heanor, Derbyshire (DE75), or online by video call from your own home. In-person clients come from Heanor, Langley Mill, Eastwood, Ilkeston, Ripley, Belper, Alfreton and Derby, and online sessions work from anywhere.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What we talk about stays between us.

Ready to talk?

Call or send a message, and we’ll have a friendly, no-pressure chat about what’s going on. Sessions are £59 for an hour, in Heanor or online.
